ICT Training Project – Empowering the Future through Technology

At The Last Cross (TLC), we recognize that digital skills are no longer optional — they are essential for every child’s and youth’s future success. Our ICT Training Project is designed to bridge the digital divide by equipping vulnerable children and young people with critical Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills, empowering them to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

Project Overview:

The ICT Training Project aims to provide hands-on computer training, digital literacy education, and technical skills development to disadvantaged children and youth in the communities we serve. By introducing them to technology early, we open doors to better education, employment opportunities, and active participation in the modern economy.

Key Objectives:

  • Digital Literacy: Teach basic computer operations such as typing, internet browsing, email communication, and file management.

  • Technical Skills Development: Introduce young learners to software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) and basic graphic design, coding, and data management.

  • Career Empowerment: Equip older youth with job-ready skills like CV writing, online job searching, virtual communication, and basic digital marketing.

  • Innovation and Creativity: Encourage creativity through digital storytelling, simple programming, website development, and media content creation.

  • Safe Online Practices: Educate participants about cybersecurity, online safety, and responsible internet usage.

Program Activities:

  • Establishment of community ICT hubs and training centers.

  • Weekly computer classes divided by age and skill level.

  • Special workshops on coding for beginners, creative digital arts, and entrepreneurship.

  • Mentorship programs linking participants to tech professionals for guidance and support.

  • Hosting community awareness events about the importance of ICT in modern development.

Target Beneficiaries:

  • Children aged 8–17 from underprivileged backgrounds.

  • Youth aged 18–25 who are out of school or seeking employment.

  • Community members interested in basic ICT knowledge to support their livelihoods.

Expected Impact:

  • Increased digital literacy among children and youth.

  • Better academic performance through improved research and learning skills.

  • Greater employment opportunities for trained youth.

  • Strengthened community capacity to adapt to the digital era.

Support Needed: To successfully run this project, TLC seeks support in the following areas:

  • Donations of computers, laptops, tablets, printers, and internet equipment.

  • Financial contributions to set up and maintain ICT hubs.

  • Volunteers and trainers with ICT expertise to facilitate sessions.

  • Partnerships with technology organizations for curriculum development and certification opportunities.
